Cartier Jewelers Extraordinary (1988, Hardcover) Fashion Photo Brand Book
Cartier Jewelers Extraordinary (1988, Hardcover) Fashion Photo Brand Book. Cartier began as an atelier opened in Paris in 1874 by French lapidary Louis-François Cartier, and became a worldwide brand in the 1900s by his three grandsons. This book is an expert guide to the history of various pieces of jewelry, accessories and watches released by Cartier from the 1900s to the 1930s, which can be said to be the beginning of its golden age. The process of Cartier's craftsmen creating these pieces, taking into account their design and purpose, is apparent, and they are all worthy of being called works of art. There are few common items in the book, but rather a large number of items ordered by and used by royalty, aristocrats, celebrities, and famous people around the world.
The book contains many museum-quality items that we don't usually see, and while the English text is a bit heavy, there are about 500 photographs, so even those who are not good at Western books can fully enjoy the book. The cover shows some age-related deterioration including scratches and creases.
